I could start with a biblical argument as to why biblical literacy is quite important to faithful Christian witness, but let’s be real – if biblical literacy is of dwindling value to someone then it is wholly plausible that they may hold reservations on biblical inerrancy, sufficiency, and authority. Considering this, I would like to start with a more philosophical claim to the existence and usefulness of scripture. I realize some of the stipulations I am about to make are pseudo-biblical, but I think they have logical/philosophical warrant in themselves.

I was having a conversation with a friend the other day about the subjectivity of time. And while that sounds like a highly intellectual topic, it was premised on the fact that it would legitimately make more sense for me to measure my days according to the number of cups of coffee I’ve had than with the Gregorian calendar (if it’s any less than 3, did a day even pass?).

"Fireseed" is an unusual term for an ember or coal one can pluck from the ashes of a fire.  Theoretically it takes only one fireseed to start a fire.  Think about being a fireseed of spiritual revival.  A revival that awakens your generation to God.

Happy Labor Day, everyone! It’s been nice to see the temperatures start to return back to some sense of normal after the last two days of extreme heat. On Friday, I posted a picture of our weather on social media, and heard back from some of my friends and family who live in Phoenix. They weren’t impressed. I don’t know how anyone could live there! I couldn’t do it. 

The temptation is to treat Easter like it’s an ending. The eggs have all been found, Jesus is risen (*raised hands emoji*), we went to church, I can finally eat sugar/watch Netflix/go on social media again...and now it’s back to "normal life."

But nothing was normal after Jesus.
